ABOUT TRAVIS DOMMERT OF IRUNURUN:
Travis Dommert is the president of IRUNURUN, and a former management consultant and staffing industry executive. He is a self-proclaimed personal development junky and a raving fan of world-class companies and their cultures.
Travis is a Christian, husband of 11 years, father of 5 children, and ironman tri-athlete. His personal mission is to help people achieve their potential in work and life.
IRUNURUN LLC is an Atlanta-based software company whose mission is to help people achieve their potential in work and life. Their primary product is a performance and accountability app, also called IRUNURUN, designed to help people develop and sustain weekly habits through FOCUS, CONSISTENCY, and ACCOUNTABILITY. A free version is available at irunurun.com for individuals. And a pay / enterprise version is available to organizations that want advanced features to coach their people, drive engagement and develop a peak performance environment. There is also an iPhone app for IRUNURUN available in iTunes or the Apple App Store.
Professionally, he has had the privilege of working for some incredible companies, starting with Stryker Corporation and Ford Motor Company and later two incredible venture-backed startups that set out to change the world. He says that the key to this success was education. He really applied himself in school and invested a lot of effort and a lot of student loans to go to a top undergraduate program at Northwestern. That created momentum that has lasted his entire career, and he believes it played a part in getting a fellowship to Emory for his MBA. Even if you want to be an entrepreneur, he believes that it is a good plan to start with blue-chip credentials.
In Travis’ words:
“Personally, I have made physical and mental wellbeing a priority for a long time. The first day I met my wife, she asked me if I’d like to go for a run sometime…little did I know that she was one of the top high school runners in the country. I was in decent shape, I thought, but she lit a fire in me. I’d never run over a mile when I met her and 3 years later did my first marathon. I later tried a triathlon, which was terrifying at first, and a few years later we did an ironman together.
More recently, I’ve learned about the impact of exercise on brain function through a book called SPARK and about the impact of toughness training on developing peak performance behaviors…all of these things help me help our clients, but they’ve also helped me stay grounded and sane. Finally, I gave myself up to Jesus after 35 years of trying to figure everything out on my own, and that has provided the greatest source of peace and strength I could have hoped for.
I’m still working on the other areas. I think contribution is next. Our commitment to share IRUNURUN for free is helping us equip people around the world who have totally untapped potential. I can’t wait to see what comes of these efforts. We’re also creating a second social application called iprayupray that we hope unites the world in prayer and equips them to more consistently tap into the God’s power and God’s plan for their lives.”
